Meet Rumi, a British Pakistani woman who's referred to as a 'Coconut' (brown on the outside, white on the inside). Born and brought up as a Muslim, Rumi spends more time enjoying fine wine and bacon than being at the mosque.
When Rumi meets (white) boyfriend Simon, she hopes that his conversion to Islam will keep her family happy. However, as Simon explores his faith, Rumi is forced to choose between love and duty.
Ages 14+. £10. In the OFS Theatre.
★★★★ "Mir's writing is side-achingly funny at times and deeply affecting at others… and hits both a zeitgeist and the universality of coming to terms with your own identity." - FemaleArts
