'Eleven, twelve, thirteen' explores the importance of numbers in our lives, from the significance of the number 11 in the world around us through to the iconic era of the Sufis during the 1200s and a light-hearted exploration of the troublesome thirTEENS.
The production comprises a variety of original pieces that innovatively combine dance, music and the spoken word, and sprout unique collaborations between UK’s finest young British Asian artists across genres. With this unique ethos at its heart, this promises to be a show that is even more exciting than the sum of all its parts.
The show features the artistic couple (and Oxford alumni) Sonia Chandaria Tillu & Avi Tillu (founders of Sona Lisa Dance Company), Jaina Modasia (two time BBC Young Dancer South Asian Category finalist) and upcoming Brit Indian musician Vibs Bhatia.
Ages 12+. £10. In the Old Fire Station Theatre.
Sona Lisa Dance Company
Sona Lisa Dance Company is a Birmingham (England) based dance company set up by Artistic Director Sonia Chandaria Tillu in 2018. Our objective is to build a dance style and vocabulary that is based on one of the oldest classical Indian dance forms – Kathak, but speaks to contemporary audiences.

“…I also admired Sonia Chandaria Tillu for the way in which she contained and then released energy… the performance only lasted an hour, but I could have watched these dancers all night.” - Maggie Watson (Oxford Dance Writers) review on Sonia as a guest performer in FACET for Drishti Dance at the Offbeat Festival 2018
“… her presentation was filled with crisp bols, impeccable footwork and fluid grace. Her strengths were the energy she exuded and the sparkle in her eye. Even when reciting the bols, her eyes danced and skipped as if the words were not necessary to maintain the rhythm…” - Pulse Magazine review of Sonia's solo performances at Akademi's Navodit
