Abstract Landscapes in Ink and Wash

  • Art Room Old Fire Station 40 George Street OX1 2AQ (map)

Using expressive mark making, ink and unique tools, you will be creating landscapes and abstractifying them.

You will be shown a variety of approaches to drawing as well as capturing tone and atmosphere. Be prepared to work fast and loose!

Rachel is primarily a watercolour and mixed media artist creating abstract landscapes in response to the seasons. Her paintings begin with a simple motif, a pattern or the swirl of a line of mountain. She begins working from a preliminary sketch created in situ but soon the work becomes intuitive and instinctual, taking on a life of its own as layers of paint are added and removed.

Workshops with Rachel pack in as many techniques and approaches as possible, promising you an exciting experience.

You are welcome to bring your own sketchbooks, but Rachel will supply ink, paper, source material and tools.

£10. Ages 16+. In the Old Fire Station art room.
