Surge

Surge is all about stereotypes. It is about prejudice and discrimination. It is about how you see others and judge them on race, class, religion and sexuality. It is a show that hopes to challenge your perceptions, stripping you of what you think is true and reminding you of the potential you have to change your ideas.

Sarah’s watching a festival she’s never been to on the telly. Albert’s spending the little time he has left down the pub. And Stanley’s run away from school. But will anybody notice? #Hypocrisy

Lost in blissful foreign travel, Imogen joyfully succumbs to the spoils of Western privilege. Returning to Scotland, a harsh society confronts her. Dangerous politicians prevail, the media sells fictions masquerading as reality, social media sympathy pours forth for Western terror victims, yet backs turn on the migrant crisis. What staggering hypocrisy. A seamless blend of poetry, dark comedy and original music, #Hypocrisy reminds us that in complacency lies the most heart-stopping terror.

Rhiannon Unbridled

A one-woman storytelling show with original music. Rhiannon Unbridled takes the story of the Celtic Goddess Rhiannon out of its well-preserved Welsh Medieval manuscript in the Bodleian Library, and wrestles with it. Jackie’s stories of her girlhood fascination with horses, and developing relationships with the opposite sex are interlocked with chapters of Rhiannon’s life, until the narratives collide in a need to rescue both modern woman and ancient goddess from the forces that bridle them.
