This Egg: Me & My Bee

ThisEgg's family comedy Me & My Bee is on Sunday 25 June at 3.00pm in the Old Fire Station.

HI THERE, WHY DON’T YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF?

Hi there! Thanks for checking out our blog post… We’re blogging about our work in progress of Me & My Bee (a new family comedy) at Offbeat Oxford on the 25th June 2017. We are ThisEgg, an ‘emerging’ theatre company making work as often as we can, where ever will have us.

NICE TO MEET YOU! SO, WHAT’S THE SHOW YOU’RE BRINGING TO OFFBEAT AND WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Our fuzzy little friends need our help and so we’re launching a political party disguised as a party party disguised as a show. It will be packed with live music, dancing, games and of course, party bags, so it’s sure to be fun. There’s only one problem: The bees are dying and without them, we will too.

WHAT KIND OF PERSON DO YOU THINK WILL ENJOY THIS SHOW?

We’ve been wondering how we can engage both adults and children alike in the plight of bees.

WHAT’S THE BACKGROUND TO THE SHOW? WHY DID YOU MAKE IT? WHAT’S THE JOURNEY BEEN LIKE SO FAR?

The show is about how we, as humans, can do more to help save the bees. To do this we need to make people care about them - the more we research them, the more we love them - BEES ARE SO COOL. They have facial recognition, they can count to 3 and they don’t even have eyelids. The list goes on. We hope that if we can share what we’ve found out about the bees, maybe everyone else will fall in love with them too. If the fun facts aren’t enough, we have some real ones, too: we will also have a little look in on their effect on our own ecosystem. Really, the show is as much about humans as it is about bees. We’re on a mission to save the world.

CAN YOU SUM UP THE PITCH FOR YOUR SHOW?

Me & My Bee is about the smaller things, it’s about cause and effect, and mainly, how we can begin to look after the planet we live on that much better.

WHAT OTHER COOL STUFF HAVE YOU DONE THAT FOLKS MIGHT LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT?

We’re testing the show at Offbeat Oxford before finishing it and premiering at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where it will be co-produced by Pleasance (Beside, 2nd-28th August excl. 15th @ 11.45am).

ARE YOU EXCITED TO TAKE THIS SHOW TO OFFBEAT? WHY?

We’re super excited to be at Offbeat. The programme is insane - Oxford is in for such a treat.

FINALLY, IS THERE ANYTHING YOU’D LIKE TO SAY TO FOLKS IN OXFORD?

Climate change is massive. Bee’s aren’t.

Plant the seed for change, come along, tell us what you think and join the party!?
